Price and near the subway. I have to admit that it is a cheap place to stay at in NYC but it is totally NOT worthwhile. I would have paid far more for a greater place if I knew so. The location is not bad. It is in Brooklyn, not near to city center or major attractions, but very near to the subway station.

My stay at Hostel 89 was amazing. It is such a special hostel. The owner and employees were fantastic and it really felt as though we were staying with household - we were taken on surprise trips to watch the sunset, and were taken to eat deli sandwiches at the local Brooklyn spots. I liked it here so much so that I was considering trying to live here full time instead of getting an apartment. The entire spot is really nicely planned and extremely clean. There is a large fully stocked kitchen upstairs, and UNLIMITED FREE Wireless (which is a massive deal for nyc). If you check out New York, you have to stay at this hostel!

I enjoy staying it was home away from home. The individuals there are really friendly, acess to trasportation to the city quickly. I would reccomend anyone who would like to save money and stay in clean, warm and friendly location to stay in Holtel 89

I am usually leary about staying with hostels, but I was able to meet lots of interesting people from around the globe during my stay. The place is less than one block from the G line and only 15 minutes away from Manhattan. The Hostel provides helpful Metro maps so you can navigate around the city better.
