Small and warm and friendly household hostel central location hearty breakfast, valid until noon, handy for late risers totally equipped kitchen, wireless in the room and connected computer in the common location nice little terrace where I could smoke a narguiler provided by the hostel staf warm and friendly (I need to say hello to the young blond long hair and small brunette bobbed hair without forgetting the lady who take care of the household)

The staff are outstanding. When we (a small household with lots of baggage) arrived late at night, the cab couldn&'t reach the hostel because of roadworks. Gaye, the on-duty staff that night, came out to meet and help us reach the hostel on foot - and her friendly warmth continued throughout our stay. The location of the hostel extremely close to the Galata Tower is great, too. There&'s a great mom-owned restaurant (Galata Kitchen) a minute away, turn left out of the hostel, walk to the end of the street, and it&'s immediately across the perpendicular road. We visited in midwinter, as nicely as the heat in our room (from the heat-exchange a/c unit) was fine. It&'s also just a 20-minute walk (along Istiqlal, then turn left - see the hostel&'s map) to reach the Buyuk Hammam (http://www. buyukhamam. net), for locals, established in 1533. Price for men TL34. 50 with massage, for women (better service and products, evidently) TL50 for each my wife and daughter.

It&'s off the beaten path, but only a short walk to each Galata Bridge (and therefore tramway stops) and Taksim Square. Really convenient! The hostel also owns Tag, a nearby bar that was a great time on New Years and we got discounted drinks for staying here!

Central in Istanbul and effortless to get to places once you get oriented. It is hard to uncover as the streets are a maze, but was able to get there by asking some store clerks inside the location to point the way.

Cheap, basic rooms. Birol the night manager was great, there is certainly a garden out front to gather or smoke, no cost net and computer, clean lnens, good breakfast-bread, cheese, wurst, frut, western coffee, cay tea
