I booked a dorm room but since we are in low season in Sri Lanka and I would have been on my own the owner upgraded me to a double room for free. The bed costs 1800lkr which is very good value for a nice clean hotel with brilliant views. Not far from the Centre (TUKTUK of around 250lkr &xa3;1/$1. 5) Please see attached pics for breathtaking views of rooftop restaurant which is exactly where you can use the FREE wireless and enjoy your FREE breakfast. You are surrounded by trees and greenery and monkeys can be seen sometimes! The owner Joseph is FANTASTIC and really helpful in organising trips, he even got us tickets for the Dance at 20% off. No AC but you don&'t need it, trust me, up in Kandy the humidity is nowhere near as in Colombo and the weather is really nice. STAY HERE for definite! for &xa3;8 a night it&'s completely brilliant! Lovely friendly owner and staff, very helpful and welcoming. Lovely scenery across the valley. Very relaxing stay. Mr Josef helped us to organise a car trip to take a look at some out of town sites that we wanted to take a look at - Sigiriya and Dambulla - and gave helpful tips and advice on travel and sites. Thanks Mr Josef!

The hotel is 10 minutes from the city center. my bedroom was extremely clean and comfortable. and my bathroom was also extremely clean and shiny. the hotel has a very good staff. the restaurant is within the top of the building. the view from terrace is extremely lovley in morning. Mr. Josephs food is the finest in srilanka. you should try the curries definitely. His wife Mrs. Kumari help me to organize some tours. she was very useful to me. and i went a tour with her. she showed me numerous places and gave me numerous critical specifics of the places i visit. everything was very good to me!. hope to go back in this august, thanks.

The bedroom was spacious and clean and had a balcony towards the valley side. The bathroom also was spacious and clean. The owners, who are very kind, can prepare for you an &a la carte dinner, who is served on the higher terrace, delicious and not expensive. Whilst waiting, we could observe the flight of the home bat along with the walks of the 12 geckos on the walls. Breakfast ist also OK. Very good value for money.

Lovely views from the restaurant and rooms with balcony. Bedroom was spacious and bed comfortable. Hot water showers were good.

It was silent and had a pretty view at the terrace. Breakfasts in Majestic Hotel is one thing i enjoyed quite a bit. The net was surprisingly good.

We visited the Majestic Tourist Hotel at the end of September 2012 and I can not suggest it enough. We were warmly welcomed as well as the rooms are clean and large with most enjoying amazing views from the balcony. Breakfast, which was included, was plenty of toast, fried eggs, fruit juice and delicious local tea served on the rooftop restaurant which delivers amazing views across Kandy. All meals are cooked from fresh so can take a little while but they&'re cooked to your preferences which helps if you can&'t take a lot of spice! Ten minutes walk gets you to the lake exactly where we saw monkeys, turtles and water monitors. A further 5 gets you to the Temple of the Tooth which is close to the town. The walk back up is uphill, yes, but easily doable. Alternatively a tuk tuk from town costs only 200 rupees. Kumari, the owner, is amazing and full of local knowledge relayed in her almost perfect English. The hotel offer you tours at extremely reasonable prices and when we asked to go to the elephant orphanage Kumari went above and beyond to make sure we had a amazing day, including a trip to a local spice garden and tea factory. All in all an awesome place to stay, eat and do tours from.
