The hostel had a pretty really feel from the minute we walked in, extremely open, light and airy. There are a lot of different areas to sit and relax, also a decent sized pool at the front, which was excellent in the hot weather and provided a central point for relaxing and socialising, especially on Sunday afternoons with a glass of chilled wine in hand! There was a really nice mixture of people, ages ranging from young travellers, students and couples to older folk with their families. It was excellent value for money, we had our own room, with double bed, and ensuite bathroom, with a walk in powerful shower. The whole spot was kept clean and also the cooking area nicely equipped so we could cook for ourselves. The employees were friendly and helpful, happy to help in case you needed anything. It felt safe and being able to park within the secured property, for free, was great. There is a shopping area within 5-10 minutes walk, 2 minutes drive, with a nicely serviced spar supermarket, wine shop, bank, net cafe, takeaways (good fish and chippy), a garage and lots of other small businesses. Stellenbosch town center is about 15-20 minutes walk, less than 5 minutes drive, through the university area. We often felt safe walking around.
