I have stayed in several hostels in several countries and so far Galina&'s flat is my favourite! Finding out you have to strike a match to switch on the heater and stove (not every single time) soon after not showering for 5 days on the Trans-Siberian is depressing on the first hand but I soon fell in adore with this place! And this is actually what I wanted to experience: living in a Soviet era apartment with the lovely cats! Actually soon after some getting used to (a few hours i mean) I was feeling like house like everyone else. I miss Julie the cat. She is the first cat who slept like a baby on my neck lol I have taken some great pictures and stories to tell. I hope inside the future I could open a hostel like Galina&'s flat.

Excellent location right within the heart of Moscow. Metro station is only 5 minutes walk away. The twin room is exceptional value for money for Moscow, I don&'t think you will locate a private room cheaper.

If you are searching for authentic russian style living this is the location to go. Galina was often available to help. Each her and her husband were friendly. We chose to walk instead of take metro to Red Square etc from the flat which took us 25 minutes. The walk was easy and on the way opportunity to see where restaurants were and to look at buildings. The accommodation is extremely basic but it is safe and during our stay we met germans, americans and french people also staying at Galinas. She does have cats which were lovely. We kept our door shut during the day and they did not go into our room whilst we were there. To some it up it was a extremely enjoyable stay and would recommend this to travellers on a budget.

The location is the highest one could imagine for this price! Close to a subway station, just two stops from the Kremlin as well as the Red Square! Besides that, the traveller is presented with the chance of staying at an authentic Soviet-era apartment, which makes this far more of a home stay instead of a hostel. A unique experience!

Galina and her husband are extremely helpful and easygoing. They supply useful info. And a nice cup of tea when needed! It is within extremely close to the Center (20 min. brisk walk). The cats are lovely!

Galina&'s flat is really cosy and convivial. She is really nice, relaxed and helpful and she has four really nice cats!
