Bar&u Lodge is not a hostel - it&xa8;s a hotel, with hostal prices! Very gorgeous and clean and with wonderful breakfast. Erwin, the owner, is extremly nice and helpfull! And its easy to get there by taking the new metro from the bus terminal to station V&ia Argentina. It was a wonderful encounter and we would come back any time!

My partner, Douglas Strom is going blind. I am his companion and friend for over 21 years. This was our first trip to Panama, and we had the very best time. You should have a rating for excellent, due to the fact the Baru Lodge is not just good, it is EXCELLENT! The staff is really courtious, considerate, and helpful even though some of the members of the staff did not speak English well. They are impressive due to the fact they tried their finest to communicate with us. Erwin is the owner, and he went out of his way to help us. He did everything possible to create sure that we were comfortable. Erwin speaks outstanding English, and he knew my partner was disabled. He checked to create sure if we could get a wheelchair for all of the places that we wanted to see and do. Unfortunately, Panama does not accommodate anyone who needs a wheelchair, but Erwin tried his finest to create sure that the taxi cab person knew to drop us at a location where Doug did not have to walk really far. Erwin is genuine, kind, and really concerned that you appreciate every single day of your stay in Panama. The rooms are clean, and there is a lot of hot water. The air cooling inside the room works well. Travellers must be prepared for 90+ degrees of humidity. Which is really hot. We sweated profusely, and we took at least 1-2 showers a day. The food for a bed and breakfast establishment was completely prepared and delicious: fresh fruit every single day considering the season (we ate bananas, pinapples, papayas, apples, and pears), a selection of yogarts, orange juice, milk, Panamanian (strong) coffee, tea, water; white and brown bread for toast with butter and jam or white, yellow cheeses, and ham; boiled eggs; cereal; and coffee cakes. I would think that any traveler would be happy with that type of breakfast. We always ate our first meal at the Baru Lodge. The housekeeping staff made the beds daily and kept the rooms clean. There is certainly a taxi cab service that Erwin or Luis or Josual can present for you. Erwin is at the the lodge every single morning from Monday - Friday. Josual is there on Sat and Sun. Each speak English well. Luis is there inside the evenings, but we communicate via computer. I write my questions in English, and it is written in Spanish for him. He does speak some English, but not also as Erwin and Josual. However, he discovered a really cleaver way to communicate with the guest. Everyone at the Baru Lodge made us feel welcome and a part of the family. We were sad to leave Baru Lodge and Panama. We give Baru Lodge our greatest recommendation. It is a 5 star facility for bed and breakfast lodges. If you wish to spend a lot of money, then go ahead and waste your money. We spend $78. 00 a night for 2 individuals which included breakfast. We would go there again and again and again. It is well worth the money and also the eperience of staying in a lovely home type evironment. Baru lodge has a lovely outdoor area to eat breakfast or to sit outside during the day and appreciate the view of the garden. You do not feel like you are inside the middle of the city. It is a amazing place to stay, safe, secure, and near to a near by pastery shop, super marketplace and pharmacy, We loved the place, and we want everyone to go there and appreciate Baru Lodge. Friendly staff. Bathrooms had warm water and great water pressure. They offered pick up at the airport and called cabs for us. Bed was very comfortable.

Very clean and spacious. Nice decor and garden. Outstanding bakery over the road! 10 minutes walk to the supermarket.

Really nice location to stay, 5 minute by US$1. 5 cab to the pink zone (Lot of casinos, restaurants, bars, etc). Really nice employees and excellent advices for where to go and no to go. Totally recomended. Is much much more than a Hostel, is a small hotel.

This hostel/motel/hotel was a very nice and clean spot to stay! It&'s family owned and situated within the very safe el carmen region in panama. The owner and also the staff covering the reception region are very friendly and helpful! It was wonderful coming to this spot which is recently launched soon after travelling around southamerica and living at different accomodations exactly where you pay a lot yet not receive the standard you wish for. Anyway! We are a couple and therefor took a double room at this place. The room was amazing, massive bed, tv, nice toilette and a/c. If you are searching for a wonderful spot to stay when in Panama and don&'t care about the party and enjoyable environment of a place. Then this spot is just right for you!. . Go for it!
