This hostel is nearly perfect. very cosy, extremely nice rooms, super clean kitchen and bathrooms, free kayaks (try them! ), lovely living room and extra TV room, nice people, warm and friendly staff, offstreet parking - I would always stay there again, even as a couple!

I stayed in 7 backpackers places in New Zealand over a span of 9 days. They were all good but Global Village is honestly the really best one out of all. I enjoy the character of this place. The decor is trendy and interesting. I enjoy the room, it&'s small but much more than enough for my needs and has really thoughtful side tables which many backpackers places lack. My favourite part of this location has to be the kitchen. As a neat person, the cooking area was packed to perfection. Everything was neatly stowed away and also the space was wonderfully utilised. They also allow no cost use of their bicycles and kayaks and is the only location I stayed at which has this service. Lastly the manager personally gave us a tour of the location and gave useful tips for what to do around the area.

Great Hostel - Much more like a Hotel. Huge rooms, amazing beds, electric plugs for each bed and fantastic interior decor! All rooms styled in African /Aboriginal colors and figures. Really clean and amazing atmosphere.

Free kayaks and bikes, very nice African theme around everywhere inside the hostel, a fireplace inside the living room. Within the dorm there was lots of places to hang the clothes.

The entire facility was super clean and fabulously decorated. It had a &"homey&" feel and there were a lot of additional perks compared to other places we&'ve stayed (use of bikes, kayaks).

We both loved EVERYTHING about this property. It was the most amazing location that we stayed in inside the four weeks in New Zealand. It is a little oasis. From the start. The chap who showed us in was extremely friendly. I think that his name was SIMON. The room that we had was lovely and had our own veranda. There are no en suite rooms but the bath rooms are lovely with modern day bath rooms and the African theme evident in all the rooms and the bath rooms (we peeped into some of the rooms on our floor). The public lounge was gorgeous with African artefacts everywhere, piano, music sheets, guitar, free canoe, free bikes. the list is endless. Oh, and inexpensive WiFi. The kitchen was gorgeous and had all the necessary amenities. The colour scheme throughout was lovely. The location was adorned with african animals etc. and the garden looked like a little jungle. There was a smoking conservatory and other little areas jotted around which you came across when strolling around. Hot tub too. In fact, we did not budge and stayed the evening in this gorgeous place. Sorry, Greymouth, but we never got to see you. A fantastic location and completely underpriced for what you get!

Amazing decoration and facilities at the same time as free kayaks and bicycle use. Selection of movies in a extremely cool TV area on a rainy day helps and kitchen is top notch. Seriously one of the very best hostels I have stayed in
