Located a 5min walk from the main transport hub, this is a great basic accomodation with all you need. Room with tatami and futon is standard Japanese size, with room for the two of us and our rather large packs against the wall/in the closet. Bar fridge, television with two English channels and small ensuite. Very good household Mart accross the road for essentials. For the price and location in Kyoto this is a great deal. No frills. Very good wifi. Lively host, even gave me a small present on check out!

The property is properly located just a few minutes walk to the south of the train station. The bike hire they often from a sister hotel is fantastic for seeing the temple of kyoto - definetely the way to do it (we did it in winter and managed to agree with the guy to keep it over new years night so we could ride to the temples). The hotel is old along with the room is small even by Japanese standards (once the double futon is rolled out you need to step over it to use the bathroom), but that said the location was exceptional along with the reception was friendly. Value is not the really best given the size and age, but it is clean and properly located, so take the exceptional with the bad. We had a exceptional time, but just wanted to put clear expectations - also the rooms are close together and in case you had a noisy neighbour that could possibly be bad (not a problem we experienced though)
