We&'re a young couple and had a priate room for two. The Room had a bunk bed (we both just ended up sleeping in one together, the beds were large enough! ) and also the room was easily large enough to fit another one if needed. It also had an ensuite shower and sink with outstanding water pressure and adjustable hot water so all good! Toilet was right next door and clean and effortless so didn&'t matter that it wasn&'t within the ensuite. Owner was really helpful in terms of finding things, super peaceful dude who would just laze around all day. Location is good, right close to the uni - and near bus stops and stations that make it effortless to get to and from favorite locations like the Philosopher&'s Walk. Kyoto is pretty much made for walking and cycling anyhow!

We stayed in one of the private rooms. Awesome value and cheaper than the dorm! The location of the hostel is amazing for the Philosipher&'s path and all of the temples inside the eastern hills. Right next to the uni as well. There is certainly an excellent place for authentic Ramen 2 mins down the road and a lovely little family run bar just accross the road. The guy who runs it is the nicest man ever, and always has a smile on his face! He was extemely helpful and let us have the room all day after check-out so we could continue to go around town just before moving on to osaka around 6pm. I extremely suggest the hostel.

The people there were extremely nice and helpful! There&'s a cooking area and a automatic washer and a huge common TV! Numerous stores are merely around the corner, and a extremely interesting bar just next door with a extremely bohemian atmosphere.

The guy who runs it is a extremely nice and helpful person, I think his name is Manachan, extremely straightforward going. THe rooms are large and airey. It is about 3-5 minute walk to Bus 206 that goes directly to main Kyoto Station

Although the room was fine, downstairs was a extremely unclean place. It was a lot more a filthy student home then a hostel. The cooking area was filthy as well as the living room a mess. Do not try to call the hostel inside the morning simply because the staff is not awake and lets the phone keep on ringing! Although the hostel is close to one of the stations in Kyoto, it is not near to the key attractions except for the Philosophers walk, but also that takes quite some time to reach. I would recommend this location for those we seek the student life.
