The guesthouse is located in a nice old building. Think lots of dark wood, creaky stairs etc. The room it self is maybe a bit less atmospheric but nonetheless fully fine for me. By the way, some rooms are laid out in conventional Japanese style (tatami mats on floor and sleeping on futons) whilst others have a Western type of bed. What I liked greatest I that the place is very quiet and relaxing. Definitely not a party hostel, but a peaceful homely place very near numerous interesting sites inside the South Eastern portion of the gorgeous city which is Kyoto. Staff is not always present, mostly there is certainly one girl that comes over inside the mornings and evenings. She was however very warm and friendly and helpful, not imposing herself at all but pleased to be of help if needed. Good value for money. Would defintitely like to stay there again!

Friendly staff offering an authentic, 70 year old preloved home. The building is secure and clean and is conveniently situated in a quiet and exciting neighbourhood. I would certainly recommend it. I have now stayed here for 5 nights. My wife and I were properly received by both staff and guests. We are a couple in our 50s and were among singles, couples and young families. Everything was just wonderful!
