We went to Viareggio for Carnivale and though the hostel is quite a walk from the city center and train station, the owner was kind enough to give us a lift to the event. Morning breakfasts felt like we were a small family all around the dining room table and the atmosphere was so comfortable. All of the food was organic and everything was so fresh. In the summer this would be a prime location for the beach (maybe a 7 minute walk max through a beautiful park). It's just not the most convenient in the winter.
