This hostel is SUPER! it&'s situated in the midst of stunning hills overlooking the fantastic beaches of Plakias, plenty to do around (awesome nudist beach, an old windmill and nice trails for relaxing walks). the hostel manager Uli is the nicest guy ever, knows everything there is certainly to do, and brings all of the travelers together, took us out to fantastic tavernas to have stunning dinner and drinks cheap as heck! it&'s chilled out, cool hammocks beneath the lemon trees, fantastic breakfast (not included but real cheap and yummy), and amazing company! I can&'t wait to go back!

This spot is the excellent spot to relax and appreciate nature right on your back doorstep. The vibe here is unlike anywhere else. In case you are in Crete you have to stay here and you almost certainly wont need to leave.

It&'s surrounded by nature and quite handy for hikes and river trails. Fantastic atmosphere, fantastic staff, fantastic everything!

This place is unlike any hostel I&'ve ever stayed at. Yep, its as excellent as all those other reviews suggest. Great for a few days, plenty around to do, and its so nice to juts lay in the hammocks under the tree&'s.

The hostel in beautiffully located just minutes walk from the village and beach of Plakias amidst the olive groves. The bathrooms are cleaned several times daily so you&'ll never locate a filthy toilet or shower cabin. Safety never is an issue. Ulli, the manager, is a great guy and is always there to help you out and goes to dinner with the guests regularly. What makes this hostel so unique is the positive energy it creates. All of the guests become instant buddies and a social setting prevails. All in all, the Youth Hostel in Plakias is not just a location to sleep, it&'s an experience! (Bert from Belgium)

Very nice location. It&'s a place to stay for at least a few days, and not just for one night. Ulli is a great hostel manager. helped me uncover a very good place to scuba dive, hike, and even let me move rooms when I found out I had someone who was way too loud in there with me.

This is an exceptionally well-run hostel by Uli and his girlfriend that at 9 a night is superb value for money. The hostel has all of the normal facilities any independent traveller needs which are accurately shown on the hostel&'s website. Lastly there is a designated area on the local expansive sandy beach exactly where an &"all over tan&" can be acquired.
