Guesthouse Bet El Kerem

I loved this guesthouse and I recommend it to everybody who wants to encounter Assuan and Nubia. It is super clean and the people were the most friendly I met during our whole stay in Egypt. The location is great, too. Right at the edge of the Nubian villages and five minutes away from a small ferry. It was very silent and we enjoyed drinking tea at the roof rooftop (amazing view). The guesthouse is definitly an encounter itself.

Abdel and his Nubian employees were super hospitable and a breath of fresh air in Egypt where it felt as if everyone only wanted to interact with us if the end result was us giving them money. The guest house was very clean, in a noiseless location on the West Bank and had breathtaking sights of the Nile and desert. The food was superb and they provide no cost water in bottles / drinks which was great! It may seem much more expensive to stay here but with the no cost drinks, comforting setting and break from baksheesh demands, it&'s worth it!

The nubian owner and staff are the warmest and most hospitable individuals we have ever came across in our travels around the world. We instantly felt at home and ended up staying twice as long as originally intended. Location across the Nile was beautiful, a fascinating brief ferryboat ride across with the locals. The Nubian villlage was a fascinating insight into another way of life from the touts and hurly burly of Aswan proper. The home cooked meals were excellent.
