We loved everything about the Donkey Den! The property is right on the beach in Santa Marianita and is exceptionally clean and well kept. The property owner Linda along with the manager Cheryl are both amazing and really go out of their way to be helpful and ensure that their visitors are comfortable! Linda has rescued numerous cats and dogs that live on the property (they are not allowed in rooms) along with the animals are all happy and well mannered and contribute to the homey atmosphere. This spot is really much more of a guest house than a hostel, it&'s quiet, calm and friendly and they serve delicious, inexpensive breakfast! We stayed in a room with two twin beds and a shared bathroom on the upper level as that was the only room obtainable at the time we booked and it was ideal for 2 people. Linda gave us a tour of the suites on the lower level that face the ocean and they are amazing, superbly equipped and decorated with tons of space! In case you are able to book one of these suites do it! I will definitely be back and extremely suggest the Donkey Den. Some items to know, the property is about 30 minutes from Manta along with the region is extremely quiet. In case you are looking for a party scene this is not it. There are no grocery stores, ATM&'s, bars/restaurants and so on here so you need to stop in Manta and get what you need ahead of coming out. There are some small places on the beach that open on the weekends that serve food and drinks, make sure that you have small bills/change.

The rooms are some of the nicest we have seen in 5 months travelling South America and definitely the greatest value. If you are interested in a place to relax away from it all, this is it. Santa Marianita is extremely noiseless (although there are a lot of day trippers at the weekends). The hostel is extremely well kept and spotlessly clean. It&'s a 15 minute drive outside of Manta, which was wonderful for us as Manta is not the most appealing place! The owner, Linda, and also the guys that were running the place whilst we were there were extremely friendly.

Linda the owner is extremely friendly and talkative, she is an angel often helping little souls in danger along with the staff members are very useful and friendly too, breakfast is great, awesome location right next to the finest spot to practice kite surfing and other water sports

Linda and Dennis were so welcoming and relaxed, wish i could have stayed for longer. Such a random and lovely town just outside Manta, would definitely recommend it if you are searching for a few very noiseless and chilled out days away from the busy cities/towns.

The rooms were nice and spacious and all brand new. We were also able to lock our things in a safe in the room. However Linda (hostel owner) if you are reading this, please check your computer as both Lynsey and I have now got viruses on both our digital cameras and memory sticks, we've lost all the photos from our trip.
