This is what happened to us. We booked through hostelbookers. Our bus took a lot longer than expected to arrive in Banos. When we got into town it was already 1:30am. When we arrived at the property, the owner informed us that we had no reservation. And that there was no room available for us! I showed him our verification number and booking code from hostelbookers and he said that hostelbookers neer sent him information regarding our booking. He also said that he had a similar problem from the previous year. He put us in his old house, in an old room with filthy sheets that smelled of someone else&'s oily scalp! In addition to this, he initially wanted to charge us $15 US each for the use of this old room with no bathroom. I had to bargain in order to get the cost lower. In my opinion, we shouldnt have been charged for that filthy room to begin with! The next morning, i had to pound on the entrance hall door in order to get access to the toilet. To be fair, he did make one cabin available quickly the next morning. However he absolutely refused to give us or deduct the deposit made from hostelbookers. I use hostelbookers often and never had a problem with it. I think the owner was impatient in booking his hotel. So he gave our cabin to transient travelers who walked in. I saw a similar review about the same incident happening to them and I ignored it. If you want a guaranteed location to sleep, DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!

This is a pretty little spot in a pretty town. We liked being slightly out of town, had great attractions into the valley from the room. When I say &"slightly&" out of town, I mean slightly, it&'s a 10-15 minute walk into the town and if you&'re feeling lazy the reception will call you a taxi, which arrived within 5 mins each and every time and cost $1. 25 anywhere in the town. The spot itself is beautiful, basically cabins dotted around a garden with stone paths. Breakfast excellent, and the property owner very friendly, really wants his travellers to be comfortable. Most of the employees seem to be family and take pride too. Generally the spot just made us very happy, especially as we both arrived ill. To the person complaining about not having space: the problem is with hostel bookers not the hosteria. The property owner didn&'t have our booking either - he said the website kept using the wrong email address and he had had numerous travellers in the same position so he had had to offer you what he could. Luckily for us there was space. But as we went during carnival the rate was $30 a double, not the $21 indicated on hostel bookers. The property owner allowed us to pay the lower rate, saying it would be unfair to charge us more than we had agreed. And he discounted the deposit from the total, even though he had no idea where it was. All in all, completely recommend, especially if you want to relax.

I loved the hotel itself and also the staff, it is a beautiful spot extremely clean with remarkable scenery from the rooms it is just 15 minute walk to get to downtown, extremely pleasent walk by the way. . The owners are the ones working there making sure everything is Ok and that everybody have everything they need for an remarkable experience. Breakfast was really good, yummy croissants :)

We enjoyed the beautiful location and the friendly staff. The banos de cajon were especially relaxing and a fun experience. We would definitely stay here again!
