Third time here. Colonial house. Interesting. Fun. Friendly. Relaxed. Slightly eccentric, inc the plumbing, but all works. I&'ve always taken a private room with bathroom - all completely adequate. Nice mixture of guests, mixed nationalities, some Costa Rican, travellers && others. 10 minute walk to center of San Jose. Owner extremely friendly, helpful, English speaking if that matters. Pleasing staff. Bonus this time is a small attached restaurant, &'The Corner&'. It&'s a separate business from the Hostal, but in the same building, && works with the hostal. Very basic menu but I swear the empanadas (baked in pizza dough) with salsas, && the pizzas, are amongst the best && freshest I&'ve ever eaten. Long may that continue. Good traveller&'s choice.

Very nice hostel which has a really good connection in case you plan to head to Nicaragua or other further spots inside the country - it is really close to the bus terminals. The dorm beds are comfortable and the big locker is definitely a thing you can not locate everywhere. The home itself is extremely old and build in colonial style - very nice interieur as well. The property owner has been super warm and friendly and cared a lot.

The location is basically the really best thing this hostel has. There&'s a cinema across the street where you can watch independent films.

This is a great place. The guys ate the desk are helpful and warm and friendly - they supply help and info at the right level and pace. They leave you alone in case you want that as well. The room was spacious and clean. Everything worked. I stayed loonger than I originally intended and was pleased to stay there. They actually saved me money by suggesting cheap ways to get around independently and see what there was to experience.
