The hostel is the most effective location to expertise the traditional Chinese way of living. It is situated in a Hutong, so that you get an insight into a traditional neighborhood, with its local shops and markets. Additionally, the Hostel has really warm and friendly staff, which provides helpful tips and personal insights. They try to fulfill you each and every wish/request. Communication was quite effortless as the staff either speaks fluent English or German. The hostel is furnished in a practical way and furnished with loving attention to detail. It is cleaned each and every day and they even tidy up your bedroom. A typical Chinese-style breakfast can be ordered to expertise the local taste. For us as a student group, it was the most effective location as the Financial street is really close along with the two metro stations within walking distance (~15 min --&> quite close for Beijing Mega-City). Moreover, we had the whole hostel for our own. The roof terrace is a best spot to relax after a busy day. All in all, staying in this hostel was a great way to learn about the Chinese culture and its people. We were told numerous times during our stay that Beijing (Business + shopping district), Shanghai and Hong Kong is not China. But living in this hostel is exactly where you can expertise the REAL China!

No a lot more extra words to say, ideal stay, exceptional place! I love their hutong style and dumpling food party ! A little bit faraway from metro, about 10 mins walking, but it is OK considering the size of the whole city. The room is heated and warm, esp a large value for winter price. Extremely recommended.

For about USD 30 per night to stay such a guest house, it is a real worth. I even got a no cost upgrading on the top. The employees are nice and kind. They really want everyone enjoy the house

Very nice and friendly employees that speak outstanding English and do go the extra mile to help their guests. We stayed inside the guesthouse described here but also inside the Templeside Deluxe guesthouse that belongs to the same owner. While the furniture inside the Deluxe guesthouse was better (antiques style), we liked the &"regular&" Templeside hostel even greater because of the open courtyard and also the overall atmosphere. They had just refurbished the &"regular&" guesthouse as well, so the furniture and bathroom inside the rooms was new and clean, even though maybe a bit far more basic than in their deluxe guesthouse. Anyway, value for many, we would definitely suggest the regular Templeside Guesthouse. Both guesthouses are located in a real local hutong (not the ones that are targeting tourists) which is nice because you get to see each day life, but as I describe below also brings the disadvantage that you have to communite in order to get to the restaurants recommended in guidebooks etc. ; Direct bus connection (bus stop is close by) to Tianamen square.

All in all of the place was nice and the rooms were decent. We stayed in a three bed with private bath. The hostel was cute and had a great atmosphere. Beds were comfy (especially for China) and the location was close enough to 2 metro lines. The staff at the hostel was nice, but not super helpful.

Really nice people. make you really feel homely! We arrived on monday and monday nights they always have dumpling evening which is a fantastic way to get know the hostel and also the other guests! Our first room was already very nice but for the last night they offered us to switch to a deluxe room which was awesome. both rooms were really clean and also the bed was totally comfortable.
