The hostel is a beautiful redeveloped old building from the end of the nineteenth century, located just over the road from the gardens of Catete Palace, Brazils presidential palace from 1894 to 1960. Home to numerous consulates and art-deco buildings, nowadays it is mostly a middle-class residential neighborhood. As the name implies, the Art Hostel Rio frequently has students, artists, and musicians staying here.

Nice roodtop cooking area and lounge chairs. Good breakfast, towel and sheets for no cost and fans in the dorms worked really well.

I liked that it was very close to Flamengo Beach, the bus as well as the metro. The employees were very helpful and very nice.

- Employees is completely friendly and helpful! - possibility to rent bikes, go to samba shows and much more! - Employees speaks a lot of languages (e. g. portugues, spanish, english, french, german (manager is german)) - we had a private doubleroom including an own bathroom for 20/person/night - fantastic rooftop with nice kitchen etc. - best breakfast we&'ve ever had in a hostel --&> go there!

The staff were much more than helpful very warm and friendly and made my stay like I was at a buddies house! I would definantly stay there again. A lot of closeby restaurants, and busses and metro right at the door step.

The deck for breakfast and chilling out was awesome, as well as the art all throughout the hostel definitely added to the character. The staff were extremely enthusiastic to supply help on any day plans you had.
