There was so much going on at the hostel, every day and night there was one thing to do and an opportunity to meet new people or try new things! All of the employees are really friendly, pleased to help and as majority stayed at hostel themselves have exceptional knowledge of location and what to do depending on budget/what you&'re looking for. Monday Bingo, free hotdogs, free yoga, running club and yours of Melbourne. What&'s not to love!

All &"normal&" hotels were booked out, so I gave the XBase Hostel a try. In case you desire to stay in St Kilda (beach), it&s a very good location. However, it is a hostel with a bar at ground floor, so it&s packed, filthy and just a straightforward hostel. In case you are for a hostel with a nice location and very good nightlife, go for it. Note: It is not very noisy inside the room due to the bar, you can not hear people partying downstairs. Easy to meet people.

Very warm and friendly environment and easy to meet people. Spacious rooms, I stayed in an 8 bed dorm and had a private bathroom, loved the huge lockers under the bed.

The staff were really friendly, helpful and welcoming and so were some of the other guests. The property is near to public transport into the city and there are quite a few activities you can do locally. They have safety at the door every single night to keep the rabble out. The top cake shops in Melbourne are situated on Acland Street just around the corner. There is a 15-20km walk / bicycle track along the foreshore that you can easily access which is fanstastic and BASE has a couple of bikes you can hire for the day for a great price. The breakfast was really great value for $5 all you can eat and some of the nightly public meals were also quite good. The Bingo and Quiz shows are a lot of fun. Overall, this is a pretty nicely run establishment.

As properly as individuals travelling with other peoole there was a lot of individuals on there own, like me, and they were all really friendly. The employees were helpful and nice. The location is great due to the fact at the same time as being by the beach there is certainly a tram stop which gives you access to the city easily and regularly.
